Halifax announces new changes to banking and savings statements
Halifax today announces a series of improvements to bank and savings account statements that will appear from the 26th October 2008.
The new statements will incorporate a summary box section for both bank and savings accounts. This means, Halifax now has more summary boxes on its product statements than any other UK bank. Halifax was the first UK bank to launch personalised credit card summary boxes in February 2004. Since then, the Group has introduced summary boxes across banking and savings statements, loans, all payment protection insurance and Halifax Estate Agents agency agreements.

Children in Harrow, Greater London, have the highest savings balances in the UK with an average balance of £2,193, followed by two other London boroughs, Brent (£1,927) and Barnet ( £1,896)

The Ideal Location Is Worth £20,000 Premium
New research from Halifax Estate Agents reveals that many of us will pay over a £20,000 premium to secure an ideal location.
When asked which one aspect of a property's location is the most important factor for us when considering a potential home’s location, the results revealed that at heart we all dream of a country cottage, with one in four (23%) respondents listing 'proximity to the countryside' as the most important factor.

House Price Index September
House prices declined by 1.3% in September. The overall price decrease in the three months to September was very similar to that in the previous quarter, indicating that the trend rate of decline may be beginning to stabilise.

Changes to Halifax mortgage rate
Following the special meeting today by the Monetary Policy Committee and its decision to make a 0.5% reduction in the Bank Base Rate, Halifax will be reducing its standard variable rate from 7.00% to 6.50%.
